Window Energy Labels work in the same way as household appliance energy labels for fridges, freezers and washing machines. The Window Energy Rating labelling scheme was launched in the UK by the British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC) a government supported independent body. By using information contained on the energy label, consumers can reliably compare the energy efficiencies of one product with another.
WER's rate the energy efficiency of windows from A to G
Windows are rated according to the new Window Energy Ratings (WER's), a system which has been introduced to meet the challenge of climate change and to help lower the cost of energy bills and which has been endorsed by the Energy Savings Trust. At present this is a voluntary system, but will become a legal requirement for all new build windows by October 2010.
WERs are a sophisticated ranking system, judging not just the energy efficiency of the frame or glass, but of the whole windows. WERs measure a window's energy performance rating how much heat the window retains, how much heat a window gains through capturing sunlight and how little air is lost through the window.
We have a large range of frame colours to choose from, colours available are Anthracite Grey, Beck Brown, Chartwell Green, Cream, Golden Oak, Irish Oak, Rosewood and White. We also offer a wide range of coloured frames for that contemporary look using any RAL or BS colours and these are available with a 10 year discolouration guarantee.
