Available Upgrades
Classic windows from the Georgian period were made up of many small panes of glass in one single window and the stylish design is a popular upgrade for homeowners in period era properties in the UK. Georgian bars are planted inside the unit during manufacture which means that they are sandwiched in between layers of glazing. Rather than being added to the glazing, they are sealed within the glass unit interior for a cost effective solution to astragal glazing bars but with ease of maintenance.
Run-through sash horns can be a great addition to casement windows to preserve the look of traditional timber windows. Ideal for period properties and when combined with wood grain foils are a remarkable replacement for your heritage windows. These windows can be expertly tailored to suit all property styles and look equally stunning installed in modern homes.
Classic windows from the Georgian period were made up of many small panes of glass in one single window and the stylish design is a popular upgrade for homeowners in period era properties in the UK. Astragal bars are planted on to the window glazing internally and externally. In other words, astragal bars are applied to one single piece of glazing, but give the effect of multiple panes of glass ,enhancing the look of the window by giving it this classic appearance.
All our frames can be upgraded with laminated glass for added security, noise reduction and better u- values (the lower the u-value, the higher the performance). Laminated glass is harder to break and offers greater protection against attempted break-ins. Noise gains the easiest entry to homes and buildings through windows. The usage of laminated glass has been proven to be an excellent barrier in reducing unwanted noise and sound. Laminated glass provides better protection against UV rays and serves as a guard for delicate plants, fabrics, carpets and furniture from fading.
The primary selling point of triple glazing is the superior energy efficiency. The difference in the u-values that measure heat transmittance represents how much more efficient having an extra pane of glass can be. Triple glazing is 24% more efficient than the best double glazing and upgrading from old double glazing to triple glazing can expect 60% more energy efficiency. Although triple glazing increases the windows thermal efficiency it is no better than double glazing for noise reduction. You would expect three layers of glazing to be an improvement but the internal pane on triple glazed units can experience vibrations that amplify sounds. If noise pollution is important to you we would recommend laminated glass which we have more information on in the security/noise reducing glazing extras information.
The most popular leaded designs are diamond or rectangular patterns but there are plenty of others to choose from. Leaded patterns and borders can be applied to the glazing and tailored to suite your individual requirements. Available in a width of either 6mm or 9mm the lead can also be coated with an antique finish that darkens the lead to replicate the effects of long term oxidisation of the lead.
Windows with bevels and coloured glazing can add character to your property. We have a range of standard designs to choose from or our decorative glazing can be designed and tailored to suite your individual requirements. The right design and look can preserve and enhance the value of your home. With coloured films and lead our glazing can be designed to replicate original leaded glass windows if your property has them. Or at an uplifted cost the original leaded panes can be preserved and encapsulated into a new double glazed window.
Contemporary handles are fitted to our windows as standard but they can be enhanced with our heritage hardware range. Monkey tail handles are the most traditional of styles inspired by 19th century designs will add character and charm to any project. Teardrop handles have a sleek design, which is cranked forward for ease of use and maintaining the traditional proportions of this classic design. Modern windows often do not require a stay but instead, a dummy peg stay can be fitted for decorational purposes. They would not function to keep the window shut or locked but are attached to give a modern window the appearance of an older one.
For the perfect light, privacy and room temperature solution. Our integrated Venetian blind systems feature a cleverly designed magnetic slider to control the operation, positioned on a narrow slide guide on the edge of the sealed unit. This is positioned to allow the blind to be raised, lowered and tilted with ease, completely cord free. These blinds are sealed within a double glazed unit. Once sealed, the blinds remain dirt and dust - free as they are completely protected from external contaminants. As a result, your blinds require no cleaning, appear brand new and are protected from damage unlike traditional blind systems. This clever design means that the air tight seal of the double glazed unit is never compromised and with no loose cords they remain completely safe for children. Integral blinds can be used in all our window and door systems and there is a variety of colours to choose from. We can also offer pleated, solor powered & motorised blind systems.
